Our Story
We are Jackie & Delbert - proud owners of the AK Northern Lights Elk Ranch.
We began our adventure in Elk ranching in Alaska in 1997. Coming from Colorado, we spent a year living in the Mat Su Valley, looking for the right place to begin our ranch. Our search led us to the perfect place.
We work to maintain a herd of around 50 head of elk. We are the only elk ranch in Alaska which strives to increase the size of their bull elk through artificial insemination. We breed them to bulls scoring almost 500 points SCI.
We were also recognized by the Great Land Trust for making safe salmon passage and spawning areas in the creeks that cross over the property. We have worked closely with the Alaska Nature Conservancy over the years to improve fish habitat.
